DALE - "DJ SAGE"

Dale "DJ Sage" has been working as a DJ for nearly 16 years, and due to his talents and extensive knowledge of all genres of music he has built up a reputation around Vancouver as one of the most sought after DJs around. Originally starting out on the radio with the show "The Promised Land" back in the late 90s. His drive lead him to further integrate his skills and knowledge to create of the largest underground hip hop radio shows in Western Canada “The Urban Renewal Project” which has been on the air for over a decade. Dale is a versatile, scratch and mixologist who is able rock any party. Dale is fuelled by a packed dance floor, which he achieves by blending together forgotten jams alongside today’s hits.

Clubs
Dale’s body of work over the last decade has been prolific. Throughout his career he has worked at nearly all the big venues in his hometown of Vancouver including The Commodore, Tokyo Lounge, Richards on Richards, Shine, Caprice, Republic, Club 686, Atlantis, Fabric and Honey. In addition to moving the crowd in Vancouver, Dale has done guest spots at clubs/radio stations throughout the United States working in New York, Toronto, Seattle, Montreal, Oakland and San Francisco.

These days DJ Sage is more selective on the gigs that he accepts. While music is still a huge passion of Dale, he also chooses to divide his energy between DJing and his daytime career as a youth worker. Within this capacity he has been able to pass on his knowledge and skills through teaching youth how to creatively expression themselves through music. However, this relationship is a two way street as it was through deejaying numerous pre-teen and teen dances that Dale discovered the enjoyment of mentoring and helping youth.

Dale currently has concentrated on growing his mobile DJ company. He is available for weddings and private parties catering to his client’s needs by playing anything from oldies to pop hits or even  house music. He brings energy, professionalism and a high level fun to these events for people of all ages. Many people say that hearing is believing, so do yourself a favour and check out the various sample mixes on the download page. You can also check him out weekly on Thursdays at the John B Pub, a residency he has now held down for over seven years.

Best Memories
It is difficult to identify one single gig that stands out in Dale’s career. Some of DJ Sage's fondest memories would have to be playing at the three day Canadian Music Festival, which included opening up for Public Enemy, 7L and Esoteric, N.i.f.t.y., Pharoahe Monch, and Brother Ali in Toronto in March, 2007. Due to connections and talents Sage was later called personally by Flavor Flav (Public Enemy, Flavor of Love, Under One Roof) to do is his 49th birthday party in Vancouver and along with the crew wrap up party later that same year.
